Krimml Waterfalls (Krimmler Wasserfälle)

The Krimml Waterfalls were placed under nature protection laws in 1961. A power station was being planned for the area until this time. These waterfalls were awarded the European Nature Conservation Diploma in 1996.

The Krimml Waterfalls are among the most impressive in Europe and are certainly one of the highlights of a visit to the National Park because they are among the highest in the world. The Krimml River plummets in three stages into the valley. The entire elevation difference is almost 400 metres. The water drops 140 metres over the upper river fall to the "Schönangerl". The middle river fall drops around 100 metres and the lower river fall drops another 140 metres.
